There’s no reason nut and seed butter should have any added ingredient other than the nut and possibly some salt.

  • Meats. The goal here is single-ingredient meats bought locally, from the butcher counter, or meat case. If buying meat mixtures like sausage or marinated meat, ask the individual packaging it for you if it contains seed oils (because they usually do). Deli meats can contain additives and cured meats, like salami and prosciutto, rarely contain added oil, but again, always check labels to be certain. Use these labels to guide you when buying meat, and then find the brands without added seed oils.
